Having a history in dance, I’m obsessed with movement. So, I was beyond stoked when Tala revealed her and Michael were performing an acro yoga routine to open their reception. Michael shared “this is our love story,” but I couldn’t believe just how MUCH the movement of their routine mirrored their story till Kaleb and I began pairing the performance with vows. Themes like safety, security, freedom, stability, overcoming, balance, risk, and surrender were SHOUTED during their acro performance and it continually brought me to tears in the editing room.
My heart raced during the entire performance. Being that yoga is my work out of choice as of late, I honestly couldn’t fathom the amount of openness and vulnerability required to do such a performance on your wedding day. This vulnerability demonstrates the kind of love Tala and Michael share; hearts wide open to each other and everyone they share life with. In their vows, Michael promised Tala to “keep you safe,” and contrasting Tala vowed “to keep you wild.” If that is not the theme of their relationship, I don’t know what is. Though herself, wild and free, Tala values and appreciates Michael’s stability and safety. Likewise, Michael fully celebrates Tala’s freedom, lovingly calling her his “she-wolf” and appreciates her thirst for adventure. It makes our hearts roar when our friends find a partner who balances them and celebrates their differences. What a beautiful and free way to live life.
