This was the first of many Colorado weddings for KEJ, and it’s no coincidence that Amado + Alyse was the first.
I vividly remember coming off our Facetime consultation with them, looking at my husband Kaleb and thinking, WOW…this is going to be an amazing wedding. So even going in with that high expectation, we still found ourselves delightfully surprised. Their wedding day was OVERFLOWING with words of life. The words combined with their vulnerability to pour themselves out completely in front of our lenses, made it one of my favorite wedding days to date. Add in the few surprises throughout the day, gorgeous decor, and of course COLORADO doing what it does in the background, it was impossible for me to edit this into a short film, thus making this the longest cut we’re ever done.
I love the story of Alyse & Amado! They have known each other since childhood into college, and it would only be by the wisdom of both sets of their parents that they would end up married. What I love most about this story is that Alyse had a conversation with her mom that revealed, in fact, she had for a long time, been very interested in Amado, but thought that there would be NO way he would ever be interested in her. This conversation conveniently happened to get around to Amado’s parents, who spilled to Amado. Amado reached out to Alyse’s brother the next day to grab a drink and catch up… LOL! From there, Alyse & Amado ended up talking every day for 2 months, until their first date over Thanksgiving.
When we first spoke with Alyse & Amado we immediately had a connection with them, and on the day of the wedding, felt that we were apart of their wedding, and not just another vendor working the day. We are super grateful that this is our debut Colorado wedding, and cannot wait to explore more of the mountain wedding venues around the state. Their wedding encapsulates what we love most about wedding filmmaking – capturing the beauty of the Gospel and God’s love for us through marriage.
We had the pleasure of shooting alongside the insanely talented Jason Lucas. The dream team, let me tell you!!! Be sure to check out his beautiful photos of Alyse + Amado’s wedding here —>http://www.jason-lucas.net/blog/colorado-mountain-wedding-devils-thumb-ranch
